Spreadsheets are most obviously used in business and I have experience in finding spreadsheet application based solutions for problems that businesses can experience on a daily basis, such as currency conversion that needs to be performed time after time when pricing many different items. Sports spreadsheet applications are a speciality of mine and can be created for use as League Tables that update automatically when scores are entered and for general sports statistics such as your football team's goal statistics etc.
People statistics spreadsheet applications store information on people who attend meetings, clubs, events etc. and various aspects about them - names, addresses, distance travelled and many other facts and figures.
